Red Pocket Mobile Partners With Daymond John, Launches New Ad Campaign

Red Pocket Mobile has partnered with Daymond John. It is unclear whether this is a paid partnership or something more. John is the founder of the FUBU clothing brand and has earned millions from its success. He is now better known as a celebrity venture capitalist due to his years as an investor on the TV show Shark Tank, and could possibly now be an investor in Red Pocket. We Talk Wireless is seeking clarification on the matter for a future post update.

Whatever the relationship between the two may be, John’s image can now be seen on the Red Pocket Mobile website.

He’s also featured in YouTube video ads endorsing Red Pocket Mobile. Thus far, two ads (video 1, video 2) cut at 30 seconds each have been released and seem destined to be aired on TV. Red Pocket has solid history of TV advertising over the last three years with a bit of radio advertising also mixed in.

Your New Ultimate Cell Carrier

Red Pocket’s ads with Daymond John emphasize several brand features and are led by the tagline “Your New Ultimate Cell Carrier.” Both ads emphasize that Red Pocket is “the only carrier that gives you all 3,” specifically:

  1. Pricing that starts at $10/month with no increases ever
  2. Two minute customer care response time with no waiting
  3. Three major networks for your best 5G coverage

Viewers are then encouraged by John to switch to Red Pocket to “get all three.”

Jeff Moore, Principal of Wave7 Research, a firm that covers all things wireless, believes Red Pocket is getting pretty serious about subscriber growth. Moore told We Talk Wireless: “Red Pocket seems serious about competing in 2025. Having a well-known and respected endorser like Daymond John will probably help. Also, Red Pocket is making a real effort to differentiate itself via quick responses to customer calls and having access to all three networks.”

The Celebrity Endorsement Trend

Red Pocket Mobile also owns several other wireless brands including FreedomPop and Unreal Mobile. Both of those brands also have celebrity spokespersons. In March 2024, BestMVNO reported that FreedomPop had hired NBA Hall of Famer Julius Erving to be their spokesperson. Erving was seen in several FreedomPop TV ads and also has his image on FreedomPop SIM kits as seen below in a picture taken at a Target store.

In June 2024, BestMVNO reported that rapper and model Iggy Azalea helped relaunch the Unreal Mobile brand. According to one of her posts on X, she helped to co-found Unreal Mobile. She’s also the Chief Brand Officer and gave the Unreal Mobile website a complete rebranding to fit her style.

Azalea has been featured in several social media video ads promoting the brand over the last few months. However, to date, no Unreal Mobile TV ads have aired with her in them.

Many wireless brands have had celebrity endorsers over the last few years including but not limited to:

Perhaps the most successful and well known relationship was and is the one between Ryan Reynolds and Mint Mobile. Reynolds took an ownership stake in Mint Mobile back in 2019. He immediately went to work filming TV and other ads to help grow the brand. Mint Mobile with its two million subscribers and its sister brand Ultra Mobile were subsequently sold to T-Mobile for $1.35 billion in a deal that closed on May 1, 2024. Reynolds continues to work with Mint Mobile and has been featured in new TV ads airing for the holiday shopping season.

The $1.35 billion sale price of Mint Mobile is something that surely raises the interest of other venture capitalists. It would not be surprising if it gets revealed that John is in fact now a Red Pocket investor rather than just an endorser. In fact, Red Pocket once said in this TV ad, that one reason its prices are so cheap is because they don’t pay for celebrity endorsers. It would be rather ironic if they now are.
